Uber’s San Francisco driver operations team consistently received questions from drivers about the best places to drive. To guide drivers, I wrote and deployed a weekly email that featured large events, tips, charts, weather, communications from Uber, and more.
Drivers praised the email newsletter for helping them find high-demand pickup areas and optimal times to drive. This email made Uber more efficient for riders and drivers, in turn increasing revenue.
The average open rate was about 30%. It was so successful that I started Week Ahead emails for four other Northern California markets and consulted other U.S. markets on creating similar emails.
